Cecelia Passalacqua

On Tuesday, January 22, 2019 quietly and peacefully with the dedicated support of her family, Cecelia (MacInnis) Passalacqua, age 87, passed from her earthly home into her eternal home where she will rest and be happy until we meet her there.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Gertrude MacInnis.
Cecelia lived most of her life in New York where she met and married Joe Marindi, who predeceased her. She remained in New York and worked as a practical nurse for many years. Later she met and married Peter Passalacqua who also predeceased her.
With her skills as a caregiver, Cecelia returned to Donkin to help care for her sister, Agnes which she did selflessly for many years.
Cecelia is survived by her sister and best friend, Mary Young, Sydney; her brother, Pius MacInnis, Glace Bay, and many nieces and nephews of which she has a special affection for CeeGee and Daniel.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by sisters, Josephine, Annie, Julia, Agnes and Irene and brothers, Dan, Joe, Vincent, Bernard and Paul.
The family express a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses of the AnCala Hospice Palliative Care Unit of the CBRH as well as the doctors and nurses at the New Waterford Hospital. Your professionalism and compassionate care did not go unnoticed.
Cremation has taken place. The funeral service is Monday, January 28 at 10 a.m. followed by a reception, both in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment at a later date.
