Margaret 'Mickey' Kokocki

With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of Margaret "Mickey" Kokocki, beloved wife, mother and grandmother on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 12, 1947 in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Campbell) Johnston.
Mom was an avid baker while working at Smith's Bakery, Sobeys and Lofood. She loved to make perogies with the family, do crossword puzzles, watch curling, play cards and host Sunday suppers. She was an avid volunteer with the Steelworker's and Sydney Pensioners Club as the Secretary Treasurer and Treasurer of the bowling and dart leagues and helped prepare many banquet meals in their kitchen.
Mickey is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Frank and their children, Lynnette (Albert, their children Joseph and Lena), Laura (Scott) and Jason (Charlene, their children Nick and Abbe). She is also survived by her sisters, Joanne, Raylene (Paul), Earlene (Joe), Rose (Kevin) and brothers, Gary (Maggie), Tommy (Gail), Joey (Janice) and Cecil (Christine) and many nieces and nephews.
Mickey was predeceased by her sisters, Georgie and Barbara.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Khodadad, the staff at the Cancer Centre, and the Palliative Care doctors and nurses for their excellent care and compassion they provided to mom.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Sunday February 24 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier on Monday February 25 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
