June Lorraine Williams

Passed on: March 22nd, 2019

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, June, on Friday, March 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ontario on June 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Amy Ridsdill. After a short time working in a bakery there, she met her soon to be husband Joe, and together they set up roots in Sydney Mines.
Once there, Dad went to work for Public Works (Sydney Mines) and Mom stayed at home to take care of the eight children they eventually had together.
Special thanks to 5th floor palliative care staff for their kindness and care, whom Mom would regale in how many pricks she had that day (3 in this arm and 3 in that arm). Thanks also to the VON, Palliative and Home Care, who once home, came in to check on Mom multiple times every day, and to Dr. Beth MacCormick, who did the best she could, under the circumstances (Mom was stubborn.)
Special thanks to the staff of Jane’s Restaurant, who Mom would always be happy to see, and who would be happy to see her.
Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, Joe (1986); son, Francis (1985) and Michael (2018); her brothers, George and Clifford; sisters, Vera and Shirley, and in-laws, Michael and Eliza Donovan.
Mom is survived by her children, James (Carol), Jane (Colin) MacDonald, Lillian (Ernest) Saunders, Ernie (Tina), Harry (Michelle) and Gary (Heather). She is also survived by her sisters, Doris, PEI, and Joyce, ON; brothers, Frank, ON, Bobby, ON; 29 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; special daughters-in-law, Patricia, Mary, Beatrice and Cathy.
As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place (with her special teddy bear). Visitation for family and friends will be held (today) Monday, March 25, 2019 in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, from 6-8 p.m.
Service to follow at a later date. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
A special Mom. She will be missed.
