Roderick "Achum" Francis

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roderick ‘Achum’ Francis, age 76 of Eskasoni on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the CBRH, Palliative Care.
Born in Afton, NS, he was the son of the late Stephen P. and Annie Claire (Paul) Francis.
Rod lived with his sister Josephine in Eskasoni and was a member of Holy Family parish. Roderick was a residential school survivor. He loved the outdoors, fishing and working with his hands building and repairing. He especially loved making tools and traditional baskets; spending time with his family always brought him great joy.
He is survived by his sisters, Caroline and Josephine Francis; brothers, Alex (Mary), Daniel and David Francis and many nieces and nephews.
Rod was predeceased by siblings, Catherine, Rose Marie, Norman, Ryan, Marion, Angus, Joseph, Jonas Francis and nephew, Paul Francis
We would like to thank the staff of Palliative Care and Dr. Todd for their compassionate care.
Visitation will take place at the Gabriel Center on Thursday, April 4 after 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Saturday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the Holy Family Parish Cemetery. Salite to follow.
