We, the family of the late Donald Joseph Blackwood wish to express our deepest gratitude to all our relatives and friends both near and far, who offered support during our recent loss of Donnie. To those who sent messages of condolence, phone calls, mass cards, memorial donations, flowers and plants, all those who attended the wake and funeral, dear friends and relatives who brought food to our homes, the K.O.C., and the funeral home, thank you to all, it was profoundly appreciated.
Thank you to Fr. Ray Huntley for the beautiful celebration of mass and homily at the Parish of St. Leonard Church, and to Rev. Duncan Roach, Calvin United Church Minister and family friend, for the Leader of Prayer. Thank you to the Parish of St. Leonard Funeral Choir, under the direction of Lorette and Charlie Campbell, for their comforting music and hymns during the Mass.
Thank you to the pallbearers, grandsons Riley Morrison, Ryan Munro, Jamie Lawrence, Kyle Munro, and close friends Roger Guyaux and Bernie Boudreau, and to the readers, nephew Phil Blackwood, and friend Wayne “Buzzy” Connors. Thank you to granddaughter Jocelyn Morrison and sister-in-law Roberta (Bobby) (Simon) White for assisting in the preparation of the gifts, and to soloist and family friend Beth Boudreau for the Meditation, Thank you to the altar servers, friends John Angione, A.J. Boudreau, and Art Timmons, and the Eucharistic Ministers, sister Colette Pellerine, granddaughter Jocelyn Morrison, sister-in-law Willena Blackwood, and family friends Jean MacDonald and Marion Grant.
Thank you to Donnie’s brother Greg who escorted Muriel to the service, and to his brother Charles and sister-in-law Shannon, brother David and sister-in-law Willena, and to sister-in-law Bobby and brother-in-law Simon White who opened their homes to us. Also, thank you to Simon White for his photographic skills.
Thank you to the K.O.C. Council 3209 for their evening visit and prayers led by A.J. Boudreau, and to the New Waterford Rotary Club for bestowing the Paul Harris Fellowship Award to Donnie’s wife Muriel, and for their flowers and plant.
Thank you to Rosemary Poirier and the Ladies Auxiliary and K.O.C. members for the lovely luncheon following the service and to the Parish of St. Leonard Graveyard Society for making the preparations for the gravesite.
We also thank our kind and close friends in Halifax who brought food to our homes and travelled to be with us.
To the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Staff, Basil Robert, Basil Sr., Donnie MacIsaac, and Ron MacNeil, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your excellent care and compassion shown to us during a difficult time for all of us.
