Yvonne Matheson

Yvonne Matheson of Dominion passed away at the age of 83 on February 23, 2019, at her home in Dominion NS. Born October 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle MacNeil. In her earlier years, Yvonne worked at a telephone office and at Dave McCarrol’s store in Glace Bay. After that she owned and operated Yvonne’s Dairy with her late husband Harold ‘Sonny’ Matheson and son, Robert for 25 years in New Aberdeen. She was an avid card player and loved to go to the dances.
In the summer month, she would love spending time at the family cottage in Mira. Yvonne always made sure that her door was open to anyone who needed a helping hand or a hot meal. She would love to sit and tell her funny stories of days gone by. She loved to bake with her three granddaughters who loved her very much.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Robert; her brother, Robert MacNeil (Jamine); her grandchildren, Robyn, Vienna, Jersi and Christian; daughter-in-law, Shawna; her two nephews, Corey and Brett; special cousins, Olli, Gina, Annie and Gerard; her companion, Hugh Morrison; many in-laws, especially Maria and Carmella and special friends, Cleo and Joan.
Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Harold ‘Sonny’ Matheson.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeport, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Reception to follow.
