MORSE, John Allison “Pup”, age 93, Hantsport. July 2, 1925-April 4, 2019. It was with great sadness that we announced the passing of our Dad, John A. Morse, at the R.E.A.L. Residence, Windsor, on Thursday, April 4, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Berwick, on July 2, 1925, he was a son of the late P. Lloyd and Martha (Loomer) Morse. Educated in Berwick, he also attended Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro, and Business College in Halifax. In his early years he worked on the family farm and in the mid 1940’s he drove a taxi for H. E. Margeson in the Berwick area. In 1949, he was hired by R. A. Jodrey as an accountant for Minas Basin Pulp and Power retiring as Treasurer in 1989. He was a lifetime Mason, receiving his 60 year Masonic Jewel from Poyntz Lodge #44 A.F. & A.M. He was a faithful member and former Trustee of The Hantsport Baptist Church; former member of the Hantsport School Board, Hantsport Memorial Community Centre and Hantsport Town Council. He enjoyed playing crib his entire adult life, teaching his children and grandchildren, and especially playing in his retirement years with his cribbage pals in Hantsport. John grew up in a large farming family and remained close and dedicated to his siblings. He is survived by children, Larry Morse (Colleen), Bowen Island, BC; Beth McBrine (Ken), Falmouth; Martha Stewart (Tony), Wolfville; Tim Morse (Heather), West Brooklyn; Eric Morse (Claire), South Berwick; Adam Morse (Sheri), Calgary, AB; “Pup” especially enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Lake George with his nineteen beloved grandchildren and more recently, cherished time with his twelve great grandchildren. He was also proud of the annual Horseshoe tournament he hosted at his cottage every Labour Day weekend. Also mourning our loss is his sister, Ruth Ann Harris (the late Rev.Emery), Berwick; brother, Harold Morse (Vivian), Berwick; sisters-in-law, Alfretta Morse and Madelyn Morse (Harry); numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Marilyn (Chute) in 2002; brothers, Lawrence, Donald, and Gerald; sisters, Margaret, Helen and Mary. Many thanks for the support of family and friends and Dr. Iona Wile. Above all, thanks to Carrie and her staff at the R.E.A.L. Residence, 122 Victoria Street, Windsor, for making these last three years as comfortable and enjoyable as anyone could imagine!
