Norma Emma Herring

Norma Emma 85, of Murray River, PEI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague. Born in Middleton, NS and raised on the family farm in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, NS. She was the daughter of the late Audley and Lena (Thorne) Franks. Norma was well known in the community as an always cheerful and friendly face, and was an active member of the Murray Harbour Church of Christ. Norma was a committed wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to cook and bake for her family and Church events. Her hobbies were gardening, knitting, machine knitting and crocheting. She was very artistic and enjoyed music and painting. Norma leaves behind Clifford Herring, her beloved husband of 67 years, her son James (Linda) Herring, Whitby, Ontario, daughters Susan (Ambrose - deceased) Strickland, Murray River, and Lorna (Paul) Stevenson, Charlottetown. She was predeceased by her two other sons Hubert Thane Herring, and Norman Mark Herring who suffered as children from cystic fibrosis. Norma is survived by brothers James Franks, and Charles (Ella) Franks who all reside in Lawrencetown. Her sister Florence Whitman predeceased her in 2013. Norma is also survived by grandchildren, Tammy (Ken Truesdell) Herring, Victoria (Ian) Cameron, James (Shannon) Stevenson, John (Rebecca) Stevenson and Joshua (Katie) Stevenson; and her great grandchildren, Avery & William (Tammy), Ayslin & Nora (Victoria), Seth & Jane (James), Adelaide & Alden (John), and Phoebe (Joshua). Norma is survived by many other nieces and nephews who reside in Nova Scotia and Ontario. Visitation is to be held from Southern Kings and Queens Funeral Home, Murray River on Saturday, April 13 from 4:30 – 8:00pm. Funeral service from The Murray River Church of Christ on Sunday, April 14 at 3:00pm, with burial to follow at The Murray River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kings County Memorial Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, and Murray Harbour Church of Christ.
