Irma Louise Foote

With sad hearts and loving memories, the family announces the passing of Louise Foote, age 95, on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Born in Sydney, Louise was the daughter of the late Ron and Ann (Rowe) Harris.
Louise was forever proud to say she was from the Pier. She married the love of her life, Richard, and moved to Westmount in the early 50’s. With family in tow, they later moved to Labrador City, St. John’s and finally back to Cape Breton. Louise worked at the General Office, Atlantic Springs, the Iron Ore Company of Canada and Memorial University. She loved her family dearly and many a summer was spent with her sisters either in Toronto or Boston.
Besides her parents, Louise is predeceased by her husband, Richard; brother, Fred, and sisters, Bess and Rita.
Louise will be dearly missed by her daughter, Valrie (Bernard); son, Richard (Barbara); grandchildren, Kimberly, Matthew, Danielle and Suzanna (Richard); great-granddaughters, Melanie, Kayla, and several great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Bill (Thelma) Penney; sister-in-law, Norma Nicholson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Louise was strong until the end. She was living in her own home until last year, and then moved into the Northside Community Guest Home. We would like to thank those who provided excellent care and thoughtfulness for her over the years, it was greatly appreciated.
Cremation will take place, and there will be no visitation. A graveside service and celebration of life for the late Louise Foote will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donation in memory of Louise may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NS or to a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
