Raymond Kenneth HARDIE

February 27, 1928 - April 15, 2019 - It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved Raymond Kenneth Hardie, who passed away peacefully on April 15, 2019 at the age of 91 years old. Raymond, the youngest son of the late Henry and Ellen-Jane (Garnier) Hardie was born on Feb 27, 1928 in Lower Greenville, Nova Scotia. He is also predeceased by his seven siblings and grandson Adam Hardie. Raymond will be forever remembered by his wife Shirley, married 64 years. Daughter Jane (Bruce) Beck, son Robert Hardie, daughter Sherry Hardie (Barry Wilhelm), son Barry (Michele) Hardie, son Blaine (Tami) Hardie. Eleven grandchildren; Tracy, Kelly, Tami, Michael, Katrina, Darren, Matthew, Josh, Ryan, Larissa, Clayton. Seventeen great grandchildren; Dasha, Keara, Samantha, Joey, Stephanie, Jorja, Shelby, Silas, Irena, Elijah, Noah, Michaelah, Isabellah, Laila, Charlene, Jace, Aaliyah, and one great great granddaughter Ariel. Raymond was a loving husband, father and grandfather better known as Gramps, he had a passion and love for all sports, his favorite being hockey. He was known at the rink as Gramps and attended many minor hockey games. He would often watch 3 or 4 grandchildren play their games all in the same day, from one arena to another with Nanny (Shirley) in tow. Chauffeuring as well, to and from their games when needed. Gramps was a family man and family always came first! Raymond (Sgt RK Hardie) served for 27 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, retired in spring of 1978. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Westview Health Centre Hospital and a special thank you to the Hospice Care Doctors and Nursing staff. They were all so good to Gramps in his final days. In lieu of flowers donations in Raymond's honour may be made directly to the Light Up Your Life Tri-Community Palliative/Hospice Care Society 4405 South Park Drive Stony Plain, Alberta T7Z 2M7 Arrangements handled by Evergreen Funeral Chapel - Edmonton
