Lewis "Aubrey" COCHRANE Lewis "Aubrey" COCHRANE

Cochrane, Lewis “Aubrey” - Truro, age 84, passed away peacefully at Willow Lodge on April 25, 2019 after living with Alzheimer's the past several years. Born in Londonderry on January 27, 1935 he was the only son of the late William (Bill) and Edna Cochrane (Parker). Aubrey was an interesting character with an offbeat personality and a quirky sense of humour. He was soft spoken but enjoyed meeting and joking with everyone including absolute strangers. He worked as a roofer (Fosco) for many years and drove taxi during the off season and in his early retirement. He met a lot of people and made many friends; including his long-term partner Debi Duggan from his taxi driving years. He enjoyed raising cattle and passed that love on to his step son, Willie. He was a sports fanatic and especially enjoyed watching baseball and hockey. He watched Jeopardy every evening and ran the sports category. He was a horse racing enthusiast and passed that love on to his son, Vernon. He never missed a Sunday at the track! He is survived by Debi Duggan, his daughters, Marilyn (Dave), Janet (Eddie), his son Vernon (Natalie), his sister, Dorothy (Stewart) Timmons; grandchildren Ashley and Evan, two great grandchildren, Amelia and Mya; Debi's children, Eric and Karen; several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his wife of 26 years Bea and step son Willie. The family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Willow Lodge for their outstanding care of Aubrey the past couple of years. With that in mind the family requests donations in Aubrey's memory be made to Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will take place Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 2 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. Reception will follow immediately after the service. Private interment to take place in Valley Crossroads Cemetery at a later date.
