Angelina “Edna” Sampson

The death occurred peacefully, with family by her side, at the Atlantic Baptist Home, Charlottetown, on Thursday, May 9, 2019, of Edna Sampson (nee Gauthier), wife of the late Cornelius “Curn” Sampson, formerly of North Rustico, aged 93. She was a proud veteran of the Second World War. Edna was the loving mother of 5 sons, George (deceased) (Dianne), Paul, Carl (Lysette), Robert and Allan (Marian); 4 daughters, Dolores Watts (Allison), Patricia Malone (Pat), Anita Mullins (Frazer) and Joan Nantes (Ian); 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Flaherty and Theresa Krischuck; brothers, Richard and Clarence Gauthier; special sister-niece, Patricia Larkin; and a great many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband “Curn” and eldest son George, Edna was predeceased by her parents and numerous family members. As was her wishes, Edna unselfishly donated her body to science. There will be a public visitation at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church , North Rustico on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 3 to 6 p.m. The CWL will hold a prayer service prior to the visitation at 2:30 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated at the church on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. If so desired, donations in Edna’s memory to the Stella Maris Cemetery would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the Atlantic Baptist Home for their kindness and compassionate care during Edna’s stay.
