WOODWORTH, Donald Clark - 87 of New Minas, passed away peacefully at Grand View Manor, after a lengthy illness on June 1st, 2011. Don was born in Yarmouth, and after being adopted he moved to Church Street, to the farm of Leandor and Josephine Woodworth. It was here that Don began farming, and his life-long appreciation for the outdoors; in particular “seedtime and harvest”. Being “outdoors” was a large part of Don’s life; up until his health would not allow him to do so. Don overcame obstacles in his life and he helped others as well. He tried to live his life “one day at a time”. Don was predeceased by wives Bertha (Davison) and Mary (Babcock) and granddaughter Belinda. Left behind to mourn Don’s passing are his faithful and loving wife Elaine (Rathbone); sons Richard (Elizabeth), BC; Kenneth, BC; Ronald, Yarmouth; grandchildren Karen; Dawn; Ricky; Kevin; Penny; Brenda; Bertha (Everett); Carrie (Paul); and several great grandchildren; step daughters Mary (John), BC; Fran (Bill), New Minas, Brenda (Robert), Noel; grandchildren Adam (Chandra) Cosby; Matthew (Monica) Fraser; and Joel (Tiffany) Woodside; four great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Terry Barkhouse, a wonderful neighbour and friend to both Don & Elaine. Don’s family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Phillips, the VON, the VRH, the Middleton Mayflower Unit, Grand View Manor and the New Minas United Church and members. There was no visitation. A funeral memorial service followed by a reception was held 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 4, 2011 in the New Minas United Church with Rev. Pix Butt officiating. Burial in the Jaw Bone Corner Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Don may be made to the New Minas United Church or to the Valley Hospice Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home and Crematorium, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, Nova Scotia B4P 1E7.
