FRASER, Patricia K. - 67, of Greenwich, Kings County, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre - V.G. Site, Halifax. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Annie (Patterson) Walker. She was a graduate of Windsor Regional High School and in 1965 graduated from Payzant Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Windsor. She was employed as the Director of Nursing for the Kings County Hospital (now known as the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre), Waterville; Director of Nursing for Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, Wolfville, the Administrator and Director of Nursing for Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, the Director of Nursing for the Wolfville Nursing Home, the Director of Nursing for Shoreham Village, Chester and the Administrator for Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, from where she retired in April, 2006. She also held a casual position at the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre from where her final retirement came in May, 2010. She was a former president of the Registered Nurses Association of Nova Scotia and former president of the Valley Branch of the R.N.A.N.S. She played in different Bluegrass bands, the most recent being Valley Thunder. Her original group was Valley Shore Bluegrass and she also played back-up with various other groups. She thoroughly enjoyed playing her stand-up bass. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of just shy of 44 years, Granville; three daughters, Lisa (Donald) Parks, Greenwich; Tammy (Kevin) Burke, Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Alana (Devon) Wilson, Aldershot; grandsons, Joe, Jadin and Patrick; granddaughters, Meagan, Kayla, Tiana, Nataya, Emily and Samantha; siblings, Gerald (Wilda) Walker, Carleton County, New Brunswick; Sandra (Lloyd) Rafuse, Upper Vaughans, Hants County; Heather (John) Shaw, Falmouth; John “Chub” Walker, Avonport; Maxine (Victor) Chandler, Windsor; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Laurel; a brother, Frank; a stillborn daughter. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, Pastor Christine Bigelow and Reverend Garnet Parker officiating. Burial took place in the Cambridge Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to baby sister, Maxine, for being there at her side and being there whenever she was needed and the 5th floor Oncology (5A) at the V.G. Site for their excellent care of our loved one. They made our stay there extremely comfortable.
