Charles “Charlie” Brendon GALLANT

On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, Charles “Charlie” Brendon Gallant (born June 7, 1949) passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. Charlie loved fly-fishing, swimming, snorkelling, and the Boston Bruins. He was educated at Stella Maris in Rustico and the Provincial Vocational Institute (PVI) in Charlottetown. He served with the Royal Canadian Regiment and was deployed as a peacekeeper with the Canadian Forces in Cyprus, worked as a milkman for Elmer’s Dairy in Hunter River, fished lobster from North Rustico, was a foster parent to dozens of troubled Island youth, worked as a Commissionaire at Holland College, Beach Grove, PEI National Park, the QEH, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and was a friend to many through his involvement in various community and church groups and activities. He will undoubtedly be remembered for his infectious smile and his kind soul. He was certainly well-loved and will be missed by many. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Aletha (née Pound); his children, Sheri (Quentin), Elizabeth (Josh) Brechtel, and Ryan; and his grandchildren, Xavier, Emma, Naomi, Lydia, and Simon. He was the dearly-loved brother of Theresa (late Jim) Smith, Mary (Robert) Connelly, Estelle Bourgeois (Ian Strang), Gerard (Malerie), Bernie (Michele), Francis (Carl Campbell), Anne (Charlie) Christopher, Kent (Shirley), Wendy Gallant (Garry Gauthier), Paul (Barb), Karen (Lee) Gallant, and Laura (Tony) Larkin; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fileas and Cecily Gallant; brothers-in-law, Jim Smith and Al Bourgeois; and nephew, Kyle Lee Gallant.
