Edith Mae Tobin

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Edith Mae Tobin, 94 years young, on Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 31, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Marjorie (Strickland) Ford.
Mom was the glue that held us all together. Going down to Ma’s was always a pleasure, and she enjoyed everyone who took the time to visit. She was a great lady who will be sadly missed by all of us.
Mom is survived by her sons, Buddy (Carol), Freddy (Debbie), Danny (Linda), all of Sydney Mines, and Dennis (Geralyn) Alberta, and daughters, Marjorie and Susan (Bryan) Cullen, Sydney Mines. Mom was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her brother, Henry (Shirley) Ford, Sydney, and brother-in-law, Gerald Tobin (Sydney Mines).
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Emmanuel Tobin; daughter, Linda Boutilier; grandson, Aaron Tobin; son-in-law, Joseph Wassilaskus; brothers, Jimmy (Heather), George (Pearl), Walter (Marg), and John; sisters, Edna (Eric) Jones, Agnes Ford, Nora (Cecil) Tobin, and sister-in-law, Jackie Tobin.
To the nurses and staff of the 5th Floor, Northside General Hospital, you took great care of Mom in her short stay. A special thank you to Dr. Michel and Louise McKeough for all the years of caring for Mom.
Visitation for Edith Mae Tobin will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A celebration of her life will take place Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Feral Cat Society, or charity of your choice.
Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.

Fly high, our beautiful Angel, Dad is waiting.
Until we meet again.
