Card of Thanks
Rod C. MacNeil

Tapadh Leibh
Our full and grateful hearts want to thank so many people for the outpouring of love we have experienced: gratitude for the past number of years and also in the past week during and after the death of our beloved Rod C. MacNeil.
To the community of Iona and area: your support kept him in the community until it was time to go. He always appreciated the visits, baking (which he took credit for!), music and your love. Friday night supper at the Legion filled him; body and soul. The Tuesday night Gaelic singing sessions were life-giving. The driveway was always cleared in the winter and we knew that you were all “keeping an eye out” for him. For these things we are extremely grateful.
Victoria County Home Support Services and Patty gave him seven years of independent living. The meals were important, but the tea and visits were golden. Thank you!
To An Cala, the Palliative Care Team: your gentle compassion and respect carrier our Dad and us through the last beautiful days of his life. Your kindness will never be forgotten. The visitors who came during this time leave us with treasured memories of his love for you and music.
Thank you to Fr. Vargheese and Fr. Hughie, the Music ministry, the alter servers, the pallbearers, and Honor Guard from the Iona Volunteer Fire Department and the Grandona Legion, the touching Last Post ceremony, the entire lunch team who kept the plates full and tea flowing; you made Dad’s celebration of life a cherished treasure that will endure in our hearts for many years.
To those who care for the cemetery and grave; now and in the future, we appreciate your honor and respect of our family.
To those who travelled from afar, your presence and stories shared were greatly appreciated and Dad would want to thank the people of the “Republic of Cape Breton” and beyond.

At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. Albert Schweutzer
