The family of the late Mike Laffin would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the many people and organizations who contributed to the celebration of his life and who helped us honour his memory. Our thanks to all who attended the visitation and funeral, particularly those who travelled long distances to be with us. We will cherish the sentiments expressed by those who sent Mass and sympathy cards, online condolences, flowers and donations. The kindness and support of our relatives and friends will always be dearly remembered. We wish to express our gratitude to Father Ray Huntley, Father Paul McGillvray, and all those who participated in the Mass. Mike’s service to country and community were recognized at his funeral and we thank the Honour Guards from the New Waterford Army, Navy, Air Force, Unit 217 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15 of New Waterford. Our appreciation as well to the New Waterford KOC for the lovely reception. We are grateful to Dr. Jamie MacLean and the staff at Taigh Na Mara Veterans Home for their care and attention to Mike over the past three years. Thank you as well to the doctors and nurses at the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Special thanks to Archie MacLellan and Bernie McVeigh for brightening Mike’s days with your regular visits and good cheer. Finally, to Basil and staff at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, we thank you for your kindness and compassion. Mike lived a long and full life. We were comforted by those who showed their respect and shared stories, as we mourned and celebrated a remarkable man.
