Johnston MacLean, 70, of 4 Dennis St., died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in his home, after being stricken ill.
His loving wife of 43 years, Gwendolyn M. (Ross) MacLean, died on January 3, 2011.
He leaves two daughters, Kimberly S. MacKoul and her husband, Michael of Millbury, Mass. and Jennifer L. Elwell and her husband, David of Auburn, Mass.; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan MacKoul and Heather and Samuel Elwell; a sister, Mary Turner of Lancaster, Mass.; two brothers, John MacLean and his wife, Ann, of Trenton, Ont. and Kenneth MacLean and his wife, Judith, of Lancaster, Mass.; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert MacLean, who died in 2009.
John was born and raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the son of John W. and Johnetta (Johnston) MacLean. He was a graduate of Morrison Glace Bay High School. In 1958, he relocated to Clinton, Mass.
For 34 years, John was the co-owner and co-operator of Res-Tech Corp., retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the PAV and the Clinton Turn Verein, and a former member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. Especially proud of his Scottish heritage, he was delighted to be a 2008 recipient of the Clinton Leprechaun Society's Shillelagh Award.
Per John's request, services and burial are private. There are no calling hours.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115, or the New England Center for Children, 33 Turnpike Road, Southborough, MA 01722.
