Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Carolyn Ann Mackinnon, age 72, on June 15th, 2019, after a brave struggle with cancer. Carolyn was born in Springhill, NS and was raised by her late parents Camille and Hazel (nee Adams) Bourque in Summerside, P.E.I. She raised her three children in Saint John, NB where she worked at M.R.A Department Store, followed by many years at Calps Department Store. In her youth, Carolyn was a fierce competitor in track & field and basketball, and oh how she loved to dance. But It was on the Saint John River where Carolyn enjoyed her passion for sailing, both competitively and for pleasure. Survived by her beloved husband, John Mackinnon, they made their home in Charlottetown, PEI from where they shared many adventures and travels around the world. Carolyn will be deeply missed by John, her children, Tanya (Brent) Carrier, Jocelyn (Andrew) Fowler, Clint (Elizabeth) Carrier, granddaughter Caitlin (Brandon) Carrier, grandson Lucas, great-grandson Kyrie, brother Ronnie (Susan) Bourque, nephews Don (Melody) Bourque, Jason (Shirley) Bourque and Adam Bourque. Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks for the kind & compassionate care received from the wonderful staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Per Carolyn’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, our family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name.
