Hazel Eaves, 93, of Watertown, Mass., and formerly of New Waterford, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, in the Wingate of Brighton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boston, after a long illness.
Mrs. Eaves, a daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth (Munroe) Gosbee, was born in New Waterford, N.S.
She grew up and received her education in New Waterford and has lived in Watertown, Mass., since 1963.
She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Eaves, Sr.; devoted mother of Leona F. Pooley and her husband David, Cincinnati, Ohio, John R., Jr. and his wife Lucy, Watertown, Mass., and the late Thomas A. Eaves, who died Nov. 30, 2010; dear sister of the late Beatrice Hall, Alonzo Gosbee and Percy Gosbee; and loving grandmother of David Pooley and his wife Debra, John Pooley and Michael Pooley. She is also survived by nephew, Raymond (Cecilia) Gosbee, River Ryan; nieces, Ruth Burchell, New Victoria, Elizabeth (William) Porquet, New Waterford, Margaret Sweet, Marjorie (David) Patry, both of Maine.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 10 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with her son, Thomas, at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral service will take place Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church with Rev, Nancy Whitney-Latham officiating. Hazel’s remains will be taken to the church at noon on Saturday. Burial will follow the funeral service in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
