SCOTT, LOIS RUTH - Lois Ruth (Hutchison) Scott, age 86, passed away on June 14, 2011, at her home in Foxboro, MA. She was born the youngest of 5 children to the late Thomas and Margaret Hutchison on June 7, 1925 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. Lois lived in Edmundston until the age of 13, when she moved with her family to Bathurst, NB. She graduated high school, pursued a commercial education course and later worked in the treasury department of the local pulp and paper mill. While in Canada, Lois studied music with a local tutor. Lois and her husband Robert Reid Scott were married on August 26, 1948. Following their wedding, the couple left for London, England. Her husband had the distinguished honor of receiving a Lord Beaverbrook Scholarship for a year of post-graduate study. While in England, Lois studied music under the direction of renowned Madame Slobodskaya. Upon returning from England, the Scotts lived in Ottawa, New Brunswick, Montreal and Wisconsin. In July of 1968, the Scotts moved with their family to Foxboro, MA. Wherever Lois resided, she was a well-known soloist and active in Eastern Star, church choirs and Christian Women’s Club.
She is survived by her devoted husband, R. Reid Scott, her three sons and their families- Bob and Joanne of Foxboro (daughters - Rachel and Will French, and Karen), Alexander ‘Sandy’ and Valerie of Foxboro (sons - Alex and Deanna, Zachary, and Tom) and Donald and Elizabeth of Plainville (son- Matthew). Lois was especially proud of her great grandsons, David, Alex’s son and Rachel’s son, expected in September. Lois loved to study scripture, read, entertain, lead Bible studies, mentor women and spend time with her family. She viewed her life as one of service to God, her husband, her family and others.
Visiting hours will be Monday, June 20th from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro, MA. The funeral will be Tuesday, June 21st at 11am from the Union Church of South Foxboro, 384 South Street, Foxboro, MA.
