Peacefully entered into rest at the Southlake Hospital, Newmarket, Ont., on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the age of 90. Ernie Phelan was the beloved husband of the late Bertha Phelan (nee McCarville). Loving father of Arthur and Nanci Phelan, Melvina and Richard McCaw, Mary Theresa and JP Connolly, and David and Debbie Phelan. Cherished grandfather of Aaron and his wife, Nagmeh, Miranda and her husband, Ralph, Amber Rose, Nathan, David and Caitlin. Great-grandfather of Dayyan and Lua. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Frank (Anna) Phelan, Joe (Helen) Phelan, Rupert, Angus, Hazelton (Dolly) Phelan, Harold (Margaret) Phelan, Father Reginald Phelan, Mary (Joe Scott), Evelyne (John Sharkey) and Melvina Sullivan (Peter). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay, on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 40 Russell Street East, Lindsay, on Tuesday, July 12, at 11 a.m. Interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
