It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Albert Charles Hillier, 69, a resident of Goose Bay, Labrador on Monday, Sept.14, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Fortune, N.L., he was a son of the late Gordon Hillier and Myrtle Hillier Bruce.
Albert was raised in North Sydney, he graduated from Memorial University and the University of Waterloo School of Engineering and was employed with for a number of years with the Crosby Group of St. John’s, N.L. Later moving to Goose Bay where he was self-employed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose (McQueen) Hillier; three sons, Bradley, Sydney, Jeffery (Stephanie), Goose Bay, Gregory (Misty), Halifax; also by seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Mary (John) Kohler, Springhill, Florida, Marilyn (Casper) Petitpas, Edmonton, Beverly (Mark) Aucoin, New Waterford, Colleen (Robert) Perry, Russell, Manitoba; seven brothers, Rolland, British Columbia, Eric (Gisela), Edmonton, David (Debra), Bridgewater, Carl (Greta), Cecil (Carol), Evan (Karen) and Gordon all of North Sydney.
A funeral service for Albert will be held 3 p.m. Saturday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Major Daniel Roode of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
