HUGHES, Emily Marie - 14, of Habitant, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of Peter and Sheila (Murphy) Hughes. She was going into Grade 9 at NKEC, Canning, enjoyed reading, computer games and had a beautiful smile. She was an active member of the First Cornwallis Baptist Church Youth Group, where she attended services each Sunday. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Ashley and a brother, Matthew; maternal grandmother, Shirley Murphy, Upper Canard; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Muriel Hughes, Sheffield Mills; aunts and uncles, Heather (Ron) Monteith, Sheri Murphy, Betty Lyons (Robert Eaton), Brian Murphy, Blaine Murphy and Brian Hughes; several cousins and Mittens, the cat. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Clayton Murphy and an aunt, Brenda Hughes. Visitation was held from 4-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011 in First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Upper Canard, Reverend Doctor Peter Lohnes officiating.
