SYPHER, RUPERT RALPH C. - The death of Mr. Rupert Ralph C. Sypher, husband of Audrey (Harper) Sypher of Newcastle, NB, occurred on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his residence at the age of 77. Born in Newcastle Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Ralph and Viola (Carney) Sypher. Rupert was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Newcastle and was a retired Stationary Engineer with NB Power, working for over 42 years in Dalhousie, Grand Lake and Chatham. Rupert was a member of the Grand Lake Masonic Lodge #47 F& AM, Lady Alexander Chapter #24 Order of the Eastern Star and Past Grand Patron of New Brunswick. He was also a member of the Luxor Shriner (Saint John), Luxor Mini Kar Unit and the North Shore Shrine Club. In 2005 Rupert was recognized for his contributions to the town of Dalhousie during Centennial Celebrations. An avid outdoors man, Rupert loved sports, fishing and hunting. He so enjoyed his many hours fishing on the Miramichi & Restigouche rivers with his family and “fishing buddies“. Every year he looked forward to his annual hunting trip in Salmon River. Family was always first for Rupert and he will be sadly missed by his five special grandsons. Besides his wife: Audrey, Rupert is survived by: two daughters: Heather Chamberlain (Donald) of Quispamsis, NB; Jennifer Sypher of Fredericton, NB; one son: Dean of England; one sister: Zola Parks (Arnold) of Saint John, NB; five grandchildren: Ben, Matt, Sam Chamberlain and Alex and Sam Sypher; two nieces: Victoria and Sonya Jane.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home, on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Newcastle on Tuesday at 11 AM with The Ven. Richard Steeves officiating. Burial will follow in the Miramichi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.
