DROST, SHIRLEY JUANITA - Shirley J. Drost, of Hartfield, NB passed away July 15, 2011 at Pine Grove, Fredericton, NB. She was born at Bates Settlement, York County, NB in 1929, a daughter of the late Worden and Elizabeth (Bates) Stairs. Shirley enjoyed cooking, gardening, cross-country skiing, bowling and music. She was an associate member of the Southampton Branch, Royal Canadian Legion.
She is survived by her sons, Ivan Drost (Carole), Fredericton, NB and Dwane Drost (Gail), Durham Bridge, NB; her grandchildren, Derek Drost, Melissa Seeley (Matt), Amanda Drost (Matt) and Andrew Kelly (Christine); her two great-granddaughters, Sarah Kelly and Olivia Drost; a sister, Madeline McCutcheon, Woodstock, NB; a special friend, Arnold Fox, Southampton, NB; sisters-in-law, Helen Stairs, Prince William, Miriam Drost, Southampton, NB and Halene Price, Campbell Settlement, NB; brothers-in-law, George Drost (Phylena), British Columbia and Eldon Drost (Beatrice), Newfoundland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Avery Drost in 1999; her sisters, Edna Keetch, Luella Bragdon, Alma Stairs, Nellie Bragdon, Geraldine Marney and Margaret Daniels; and her brothers, Harry, Barry and John Stairs.
Visitation will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Ralph Irving and Rev. Frank Curtis officiating. A reception will then be held at the funeral home with interment to follow at Lenentine Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be John Stairs, Trevor Ridley, Jeff McCorquindale, John MacFarlane and Ken Porter.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Derek Drost and Andrew Kelly and nephews, Lewis Drost, Bernard Drost, Joe McCutcheon and Cecil Stairs.
