We would like to celebrate the life of a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ella Agnes MacLeod, who passed away at the Cove Guest Home on Friday, July 22, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John Angus and Agnes (MacDonald) MacAskill.
Ella was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed baking, knitting, gardening and especially spending time with her family, who she adored. Her house was also opened to anyone who wanted to drop by for her tea biscuits.
Ella is survived by her children, Katherine (Harry) MacInnis, Diane MacLeod, Judy (Neil) MacMullen, Gerald MacLeod, Kenzie MacLeod, Earl MacLeod and Keith (Phyllis) MacLeod; her 10 precious grandchildren, Gerry, Sheldon, Trevor, Terrance, Gerald, Amy Lindsay, Eric, Adam, Stephen; seven great-grandchildren, Hailee, Katie, Kylie and Rebecca, Shannon, Meaghan and Max. She is also survived by her sister, Sally Morrison; daughter-in-law, Sandra MacLeod; as well as her long lost childhood sister and friend, Femma Strachan.
Besides her parents, Ella was predeceased by her husband, Stan, son, Donnie, daughter, Marjorie, brothers, John, Sandy, Buddy, Earl, sisters, Tillie and Kaye.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July, 24, 2011, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
