HUMPHRIES, Selby Garfield (August 23, 1924-July 21, 2011) — Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his loving family, at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit on July 21, 2011, Selby Humphries aged 86 years. Predeceased by his parents Edward E. and Miriam (nee Langdon) Humphries; brothers: Mac (Trixie, nee Ford) and Moses (Sarah, nee Ball); and brother-in-law, MacDonald Green. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of fifty-seven years Ethel (nee Hancock); son, Keith J.; daughter and son-in-law, Rosalind and John Smyth; greatly loved and cherished granddaughter, Rebecca Smyth; loving and devoted sister, Madeline Green; much loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; also many other relatives and friends, as well as members of the Waterford Valley Rotary Club. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic and the Palliative Care Unit of the L.A Miller Centre. Visitation from Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from The Carnell Memorial Chapel Monday July 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at a later date in the family plot located in Northern Arm (Botwood).
