HALL, James Charles, 84 of Digby passed away peacefully on July 22, 2011. Born March 17, 1927 in Digby, Charlie was the son of the late Emily Abbot. Charlie opened “Hall’s Furnishings” on Water Street in 1963 and later, in 1976 with his son Glen, the doors opened to “Hall’s Carpet’s” in Brighton. He was a founding member of the Digby East Fish & Games Association, past member of the Digby Fire Department and Kiwanis, served on Town Council and was a past Chairman of the Water Commission. He was Warden of the Trinity Anglican Church, a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a brother in the Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Western Valley Shriners. Charlie recently travelled abroad to France with his daughter Lynn, where he visited Vimy Ridge and soon after to Cape Town, South Africa for his grand-daughter’s wedding. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lorraine Hall. Loving father of Lynn and her husband Richard Cook and son Glen and his wife Rebecca. Dearest Grampy to Tiffany, Joyelle, Trent, Charity, Payton, Shayne, Brooke, Brandy and Trevor. Great-grandfather to Aidan, Sydney, Olivia, Brett, Logan, Kaidin, Riley and Morgan. Several special nieces and nephews and extended family across Canada will also miss “Uncle Charlie”. Besides his mother, Charlie was pre-deceased by his dear daughter Lee Hall Curtis, his step-father James Abbot and his grandparents Ellen & Joseph Hall. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his camp at Big Lake. He was often seen in parades across the Maritimes in his ‘Fred Flintstone’ car and he could always be found in his workshop where he built many wonderful things through the years. He will be sadly missed. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Anglican Church in Digby on Friday July 29th at 2:00pm followed by a reception at the Branch#20 Digby Royal Canadian Legion. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation and family flowers only. Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date in Digby. Donations may be made to the IWK, Shriners Hospitals or to Trinity Anglican Church.
