Thorburn: Joyce Marjorie (MacDonald) Livingston age 80 of Thorburn passed away suddenly on Sunday July 31, 2011 in the QE11 Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born on August 30th, 1930 in New Glasgow.
She was the only daughter of the late Ernest and Clair (MacNeil) MacDonald.
Joyce lost her mother in infancy was brought up with the help of her aunt Anda (Stewart) MacNeil whom she called mom.
Joyce worked for a number of years at Fraser’s Grocery in Thorburn and later for Ernie and Vicki MacDonald’s Grocery.
She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn and Ester Mission Circle (AMS) Thorburn.
Joyce could always be called on for some pies or macaroon cookies to support her church and community.
She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends throughout Pictou County, especially Thorburn and the summer residents of D&B Campground, where she and Fred spent the last 34 summers.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 61 years and best friend Fred S. Livingston; Daughter: Tena (Paul) MacLellan of Thorburn
Grandchildren: Nicholas and Nicole Arbuckle, Cailan MacLellan all of Thorburn; Sister: Naida (Bob) Gregory of Westville; Several nieces and nephews.
Her remains will rest in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday August 3rd. Funeral service will be held on Thursday August 4th at 11 A.M. from the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating.
Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery.
Family flowers only please.
Donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Union Presbyterian Church, the Thorburn Cemetery or to a charity of one’s choice.
