Lorine Somers, 91, of Antigonish and formerly of Lake Road, Glace Bay, passed away on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish.
Born in Harbour Le Cou, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Florence (Herrige) Pink.
Lorine was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, where she was a member of the Timothy Group. She was a volunteer with Town House working with the Meals on Wheels and the Books on Wheels. She was very well known for her delicious tea biscuits and homemade bread.
She is survived by daughters, Sheila Wadman, Faith McMullin, Kilby Kipping (Garth) and sons, Lowell (Georgie) Somers and Chesley (Michelle) Somers. Also surviving is sister, Edna Campbell, Ontario; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Somers, sister, Verna Best, brother, Fred Pink, sons-in-law, Arthur McMullin and Richard Wadman and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Somers.
Visitation for Lorine Somers will take place at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will follow on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay, at 11 a.m. Internment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
