It is with sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Mike Moore.
Born in Sydney, 59 years ago, Mike was the son of the late Francis (Laddie) and Theresa Moore.
Mike is survived by his wife and friend, Gail Moore; blessed with two sons, Michael Warren (Gill), Sydney, and Adam, Edmonton. He is also survived by brothers, Jim (Barb), New Brunswick, Gerard, Sydney, Frank (Dawn) and Kelly, Dartmouth; sisters, Trudy MacDonnell, Nanaimo, B.C., and Joanne Burke (Jim), Dartmouth. Mike also leaves behind numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Mike was a true Pier Boy loving the community and its people. He loved the history of the Pier and its rich ethnic background. Mike enjoined being involved in his community, his knowledge of its history was exceptional. Mike was a past president of Holy Redeemer Men’s Club and past president of Cape Breton Nova Liberal Association. Mike served as Alderman in Whitney Pier for two terms. A freelance researcher by trade, he worked with numerous local law firms. Of good character, Mike enjoyed donating his time helping people and spending time with friends and family.
There will be a Memorial Mass held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating with a reception to celebrate Mike’s life to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #128, Victoria Road, Whitney Pier. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
