Marion Florence MacLeod
Born In: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed in: Fourchu, Nova Scotia, Canada
With deepest sadness and broken hearts, we the family regretfully announce that Marion Florence MacLeod passed away at home in Fourchu on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise (Ferguson) MacLeod.
Marion was most proud of her work experience at the O’Leary & Lee Lobster Canning factory in Fourchu, at the Louisbourg Fish Plant, as cook on a Great Lake Oil Freighter, working with her stepfather at W.A. MacIntyre General Store before inheriting and running the family business by herself.
Marion was an amateur artist and enjoyed reading, crocheting, travelling and playing the piano. She was a member of the Fourchu United Church, UCW, Fourchu Development Association, and the Fourchu Dart League. Marion loved to spend time with family and friends and will be remembered for her great sense of humour and her keenness to be in on a good practical joke.
Surviving are her sons, Barry (Shirley) MacLeod, Westville, Stephen (Elaine) MacLeod, New Waterford; daughters, Heather (Roger) Kugler, Dartmouth, and Sandra (Stewart) MacLeod, Balls Creek; and her nine grandchildren, Dawn, Sharleen, Tyler, Kyle, Dylan, Katie, Stephen, Brennan, Kelsey and one great-grandchild, Austin.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Donnie in 1978.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m at Fourchu United Church with Nancy Whitney-Latham DLM officiating. Interment will take place in Little Hill Cemetery.
She will be sincerely missed by all her family, friends and her favourite cat ‘Ali’.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Fourchu United Church or the Fourchu Development Association.
