It is with great sadness that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Catherine MacKay, 76 of Big Pond at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, after a brief illness on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.
Born in Big Pond, Catherine lived her entire life there and was a member of St. Mary’s parish. After the death of her husband in December 2010, she moved to St. Peter’s. She liked to play cards and be active in her church. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Sylvester ‘Ba’ MacKay and her brother, Donald MacNeil.
She is survived by two sons, Sylvester, Edmonton; Albert (Elaine), Sydney River; daughter, May (Finky), St. Peter’s; three grandchildren, Amy, Kyle and Brian and by her two sisters, Florence, Arichat and Marilyn (Kenny), Hay Cove.
Visitation for Mrs. MacKay will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel and Thursday, Aug. 25 from 3-7 p.m. and then one hour prior to the funeral mass at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Church, Big Pond with Fr. Joe Gillis officiating.
