It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Roy Rose on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late William and Lilly (Kennedy) Rose.
Bob moved to Ontario as a teenager and worked at Ontario Hydro for many years as a supervisor before his retirement in 1997 when he returned home to New Waterford. He then worked at Ocean Fuels in River Ryan where he enjoyed spending time with 'the boys'.
Bob loved the outdoors. Some of his fondest childhood memories include summers spent with his cousins at their family farm in Big Pond. While in Ontario he enjoyed boxing and coaching sports, especially his son Bobby's teams. Upon returning to Cape Breton Bob became actively involved with Search and Rescue and helping others. He also loved to fish, pick blueberries and gardening.
Bob is survived by his loving partner Christena 'Tena' LaTulippe; his dear son Robert (Beverly); grandchildren Connor and Braeden; sister Stella Rose. Bobby is also survived by stepchildren Tina, Jo-Anna, Joe (Tracey) and Wendy (Mark); grandchildren Kyle, Brett, Lacey, Terrence, Logan, Cameron, Drake, and Kristen; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by brothers Melvin Rose and Calvin Rose and sister-in-law Louise Muise.
In honouring Bob's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A private family service will take place with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. His final resting place will be in Big Pond.
Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Cape Breton Search and Rescue.
