DURNNIAN, Jeanette - 70, of Berwick, Kings County, passed away suddenly Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at home. Born in Digby on January 4, 1941 she was the beloved daughter of Vivian (Rafuse) Irving, Bridgetown and the late Owen Irving. She was a graduate of the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing (Class of '61). Jeanette was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Laurel Chapter, where she served as treasurer for many years. She had a passion for gardening especially daylilies and roses. Jeanette possessed an adventurous and curious spirit, travelling to numerous countries in Asia – Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Bangladesh, and recently Bali. She is survived by two sons, James, Dartmouth and Terry, Jerusalem; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Martin, Harvey, New Brunswick; two grandchildren, Melissa and Sean. She will be dearly missed by family and friends, including her cousin, Betty Garnier, and close friend, Carol Trefethen, and especially by Ian Bishop and Jean-Pierre Obriot who she thought of as additional sons. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Earle Durnnian; a son, John; two brothers, Donald and Kenneth. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. An Order of the Eastern Star service and funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Riverbank Cemetery, Norton, New Brunswick. Donations in memory may be made to MADD Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
