The death of Jean Elinor (Newell) Ginter occurred on Sept. 21, 2011 at her residence in Oromocto.
Born Jan. 28, 1931 in Sydney, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Jean (Shaw) Newell and wife to Edward Ginter.
Jean was a devoted member to the United Church of Canada, living in various locations throughout Canada and Europe, always involved in church activities such as singing in the choir or being a member of the UCW.
Jean is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward of Oromocto; her children, Lawrence Ginter (Theresa) of Calgary, Alta., David Ginter (Gloria) of Oromocto and John Ginter (Jennifer) of Lincoln, N.B.; one granddaughter, Jaymie of Kentville, N.S.; siblings, Linda Crockett of Sydney, Betty Lewis of Cornwall, P.E.I., Pat Dodd (Frank) of Peterborough, Ont., John A. Newell (Carole) of Westmount, Thelma Palmateer (Ken) of Margaree and Rev. David Newell (Bea) of Maryland, USA; two brothers-in-law, Sandy MacMillian of Halifax and Joseph Genter (Alma) of Dutch Brook; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Colleen Ginter and one sister, Evelyn MacMillian.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Oromocto United Church on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bob McDowell officiating. Interment will take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Burton, N.B.
