JORDAN, Violet I. - 95, of Upper Church Street, Port Williams, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born on Church Street, she was a daughter of the late Dexter and Margaret (McCormic) Moran. Violet and her mother cared for over 40 foster children and maintained the family dairy and beef cattle farm. Together with her husband, Lawrence, they began operating a used furniture business. A devote Christian and Roman Catholic, Violet had a very fulfilling life. She is survived by several foster children, including Francis, Irene, Jimmy and Donnie, whom she considered “family”. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; a brother, Arthur. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 with prayers to be held at 8:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Craig Christenson officiating. Burial took place in the Canard Burial Ground, Upper Canard. A reception followed at the family home, 698 Church Street. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital - Palliative Care or the charity of your choice.
