ANDERSON, Claude “Norman” 91, Lockeport, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Born in Lockeport he was a son of the late Claude Vincent and Ann (MacKay) Anderson. His greatest passion was going deer hunting at the camp and tending his garden. He went to work at the young age of 13, becoming a fisherman for most of his life. He then worked for the Department of Transportation until his retirement. He was a former councillor for the Town of Lockeport. He was one of ten men to sign the Declaration in the Lockeport Lock-Out. In 1939 he enlisted for the Second World War, serving overseas with the West Nova Scotia Regiment, seeing action in Sicily and Italy up to Rome and having to receive medical assistance in North Africa. Upon his return in 1945 he married and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vera Mae Atkinson. He is also survived by sons, William (Lorna); Norman (Lorna), all of Lockeport; daughter Eileen (Terry) Strickland, Elmsdale; grandchildren, Scott, Laura, Norman, Marla, Leah and Kyle; great, grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Rachel, Naomi, Brooke, Grace and Gage; sister, Elaine Anderson, Halifax. He was predeceased by sisters Margaret and Marion; grandson, Andrew Strickland. A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 25 in Lockeport Pentecostal Church with Pastors Peter Snow and Scott Anderson officiating. Interment was in Lockeport Cemetery.
