The sudden passing of Leo ‘Kirt’ Mombourquette, husband of Amber D. Andrews, of Fredericton, occurred on Oct. 2, 2011.
Born on March 6, 1974, in Sydney, N.S., he was the son of Leo and Dale (Apblett) Mombourquette.
Kirt was a physical education teacher at Connaught Street School, the assistant coach of the UNB men’s basketball team, a member of the Fredericton Golf and Country Club and a sports enthusiast, especially when it came to baseball and basketball.
He loved spending time with family and friends. He was a wonderful father who adored his family, who will sadly miss him.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Lance, Addie and Maryn Mombourquette, all at home; sisters, Wendy Walker (Dave Martell), Sydney, N.S., and Marlene Toombs, Bridgewater, N.S.; sisters-in-law, Dana Cunningham (Robert), Yarmouth, N.S., and Renee Hanson (Colin), Woodstock; nieces and nephews, Baylee, Carter, Laine, Bryer, Mason and Madison; parents-in-law, Roy and Merla Andrews, Yarmouth, N.S.; godchildren, Brooke and Bailey Russell; loving friend, Bill Burns.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr., Fredericton, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Sunset Church with Rev. Gary Cowper officiating.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Mombourquette Family Scholarship for the University of New Brunswick men’s basketball program.
