Peter Lann

Peter Winston Lann, 61, Churchville, passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on October 17, 2011.
Born January 26, 1950, he was the son of Priscilla Lann and the late Tom Lann of Greenhill.
Peter’s attention to detail, his thirst for knowledge, his tenacity, his ability to solve problems and make good decisions under pressure served him well during his 39 years as broadcast engineer at CKEC Radio and owner and operator of Atlantic Sound Systems. Peter provided sound equipment to Pictou North Colchester Exhibition, Festival of the Tartans, several Pictou County churches and schools, Remembrance Day services as well as numerous wedding dances and other functions. Peter was our Mr. Fix-It but he preferred to build and create. He developed a passion for flight at a young age and then built and flew model airplanes for the rest of his life. He was a dedicated member of Northumberland RC Modelers. He was a member of Western Star #50, 32nd degree Scottish Rite. Peter had a variety of interests, ranging from science and technology to religion, politics and different cultures and will be remembered by many for his love of a good debate. He had a soft spot for animals and loved his dog and cats. Peter was especially proud of his two children.
He was predeceased by his father Tom and younger brother Calvin.
Surviving are his mother, Priscilla Lann, loving wife of 36 years, Ruth Lann, son Ben (Mary Baker), daughter Marie (Justin Doyle), sister Pam (Ralph) Ferguson, brothers Tom (Mary Jane MacKenzie) and Chris, in-laws, John and Edith Fraser, brothers-in-law, Ken and Bob, sister-in-law, Margaret Fraser (Allan Buckler), nieces and nephews.
Peter will be especially missed by his extended family of friends.
Visitation will be held at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Masonic Service at 6:30. Funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, MacLean Street, Friday, 3 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be at Heatherdale Cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in Peter’s memory may be made to SPCA or Palliative Care Society.
