Alexis Virginia Hickey of Dartmouth passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 7 at home surrounded by family.
She was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Margaret (MacLean) Hickey and was predeceased by her brother, Stephen.
She will be deeply missed by her loving partner and best friend, Grant Patriquin; daughters, Amanda and Rachael; son, Joshua and her new baby grandson, Logan. She will also be missed by her brothers, Malcolm, Ian; sisters, Kate, Maureen; honorary sister, Marla and her aunt, Rita.
Virginia grew up in Whitney Pier, C.B., and moved to Halifax in 1969 to attend nursing school. She then moved to Toronto and worked there for a number of years before returning to Nova Scotia in 1979. She was a nurse for over 28 years, mostly on Maritime Hall, at the Nova Scotia Hospital and will be missed by both clients and co-workers. Virginia was an avid reader and enjoyed music, gardening, her cats and spending time with her friends, who are too numerous to mention and are spread out across the country.
Her family would especially like to thank Nancy and Kim for all their help and love, as well as the staff on 3East at the Dartmouth General and the Capital Health Palliative Care Team.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 11 from 2-5 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul parish, at the corner of Flying Cloud Drive and Forest Hills Parkway, Dartmouth. Service will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at the same location. Reception to follow in parish hall.
