Ethel Chadwick Ingraham - 100, of Wolfville, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in North Sydney on December 7, 1910, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Chadwick) Ingraham. She graduated from Wolfville High School, graduated from Acadia University in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts, graduated from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto in 1934, worked in private duty nursing in Wolfville from 1935-37, was on the staff of the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, Wolfville from 1937-42, served during the Second World War from 1942-45 as a Nursing Sister with the RCAF, worked as a Laboratory and X-Ray Technician at the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital from 1945-52, then worked at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia for a number of years, eventually returning to the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, from where she retired. Ethel was a member of the Wolfville Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was involved with the Social and Benevolent Society. She was also a long-time volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and a member of the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by nieces, Carolyn Porter MacKay and Joane Dadson MacQueen; honourary nieces, Susan Haley and Elizabeth (Ilya) Blum; nephews, Peter, David and Timothy Haley and Peter Dadson. She was predeceased by three sisters, Helen Dadson, Ruth Porter Linton and Jean Haley. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 in the Wolfville Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor Barry Morrison officiating. Burial took place in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. A reception followed in the church hall. Donations in memory may be made to the Wolfville Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
