George "Earl" Duncan

DUNCAN, GEORGE “EARL” - Middleton, NS - George “Earl” Duncan, 95 of Middleton passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lower White Head, Guysborough Co., where he lived most of his young life working with his father as a commercial fisherman. During World War II, he served four years with the Canadian Army. Following the war, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Department of Transportation Airports Division. He retired in 1975 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Canadian Legion Branch #33, Bridgetown. He is survived by his wife, the former Eleanor (Bent, Grant); five children, Gloria, Earlene, Bill, George, Michael; two stepdaughters, Kathy and Valerie; sisters, Bea Duncan, Joyce Leslie, Pearl Lusher; many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Gloria MacDonald and Kaye Horne.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902)825-3448. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12th in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton Canon Edward Vaughan and Father Fred Hinxman officiating. Following a reception at the Church, a committal service will be in St. Mary’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Belleisle. By request family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Holy Trinity Anglican Church Building Fund, Middleton or charity of choice.
