It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martha Barnes announce her passing on Thursday, November 10th, 2011 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her eight children: Loretta Gillingham, Harold (Bernice), John (Wanda), Michael (Lawrence), Darlene Ryan (Murray), Elaine Barnes (Taylor), Monica House (Harrison) and Charlotte Park (Bradley); 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; sisters: Clara House and Amy Murrin (Edward); brothers: Luke Cox, William Cox (Josephine) and Ralph Cox (Jean); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Reginald, 1963; son Kevin, 1992; daughter Rowena Morgan, 2008, sons-in-law: Benjamin Gillingham, 1981, Cyril Morgan, 2006 and Eric Brake, 2007; sisters: Alfreda Buffett, Edna Janes and Eileen Welshman; brother: Walter Cox. Friends may visit Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Cox’s Cove on Friday evening, 7-9:00p.m. and Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m. Pastor William Sampson officiating. The interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Hospital.
