Charles "Chuck' Steeves

STEEVES, CHARLES HENDRICK “CHUCK” - 1933 - 2011 - On November 13th, 2011, Charles Steeves passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side. Born in Lower Coverdale, NB, he was the fourth son of the late Joseph and Gladys Steeves. He was married for over 54 years to his beloved wife, Marjorie Steeves. Charles loved the outdoors and shared this passion with his friends and family. He was an avid salmon angler, and was involved in conservation of the habitat of the Atlantic salmon. He was recognized for his volunteer conservation work with the Meduxnekeag River Association. He worked for over 30 years for the Federal Government in the Department of Agriculture, Health of Animals Branch. When he retired he passed many days in his workshop making lovely and much treasured wooden turnings. As a father, a grandfather, and a husband, he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. He is survived by his wife Marjorie; his three daughters, Rebecca Steeves (George Mitchell) of Fredericton, Barbara Trail (Rodney) of Hawkins Corner and Sally Steeves (Patrick Cox) of Truro, NS; six grand children Holly Pike (Ken), Joseph Gallant, Hannah Steeves, Emmaline Trail, Abigail Gallant and Matthew Trail; his great grand daughter Hero Pike; three sisters Lowell Gourley of PQ, Vivian Stainforth of PEI, Gwendolyn (Gwennie) Atkinson of Riverview, and one brother, Joseph Steeves (Doreen) of Stoney Creek. Charles was predeceased by three brothers; Rudyard Steeves, K. Wallace (Bud) Steeves and Gerad Steeves; and one sister, Roberta Murray.
At Charles’ request, neither visitation nor funeral service will be held. Friends are welcome to drop into Charles and Marjorie’s home in Woodstock. Interment to be held at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Renous New Brunswick at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to the Meduxnekeag River Association, the MS Society, the Parkinson’s Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice.
