Dorothy MacNeil, 93, a resident of the Cove Guest Home, formerly of Westmount, died on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at the residence.
Born in Cambridgeshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Naomi (Wilson) Haggar.
She came to Canada as a war bride, arriving in July 1946. A longtime member of Holy Rosary parish, Dorothy was very active in church and community affairs. She was an avid reader and enjoyed oil painting.
Surviving are her son, James (Toni), Kentville; four grandchildren, Alex, Calgary, Gillian, Ottawa, Laurel, Dartmouth, Morna, at home; and her sister, Grace Swindells of Cambridgeshire, Eng.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel T. ‘Dan’ in 1982, her sisters, May and June, and her brother, Edward ‘Ted’.
Visitation for Dorothy MacNeil will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church with Rev. Dan MacInnis officiating. Interment to follow in St. Margaret’s Parish Cemetery, St. Margaret’s Village, C.B.
