Earlene Jane Samson - 90, of New Minas and Springhill, passed away peacefully at Gables Lodge in Amherst on Sunday, November 20, 2011. Born in Great Village, she was the daughter of Earle and Myrtle (Vance) Fisher. Predeceased by her husband, Frank, she is survived by children, Dorothy (Leigh) and Michael (Juanita); beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Gichie), Michael, April, Elizabeth and Allyson (Samson); brothers, Dr. DeWenten Fisher, Peterborough; Hilbert Fisher, New Minas; and Russell Fisher, Springhill. Earlene was a charter member of the New Minas Lioness Club, serving as Lioness District Governor for Nova Scotia; an active and supportive member of the New Minas Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; an office-holding member of the Minas 50 Plus Club; a published author and poet; and one who enjoyed entertaining with her music. She played an active role in the Conservative Party of Kings County and Cumberland South when in residence there. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service to be held at White Family Funeral Home in Kentville on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial at a later date at Hillside Cemetery in Springhill. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to charity of your choice.
