Mary 'Donna' Murphy

With great sadness, we announce the death of Mary Donna Murphy, 52, of Antigonish and formerly of Iona, Cape Breton.
Donna was born in Sydney and was the daughter of Peter and the late ‘Nubbie’ (MacNeil) Murphy.
Donna had been emaployed at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish since graduating from St. F.X. in 1980. Donna loved music and greatly enjoyed laughter with friends and family.
Besides her father, Donna is survived by sister, Trudy, Antigonish; brothers, Roddie (Delores), Iona, Gerard (Brenda), Grand Narrows and David, Ottawa. Also surviving are nieces, Kimberly, Colleen; nephew, Ryan and aunt, Margaret Murphy.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of 8A and the Medical Day Unit at the V.G. for their kind and compassionate care. Also thank you to Dr. Patricia Menard, Antigonish. A very special thank you to a wonderful friend, Jana Steen, who provided a welcoming home for us on our many and extended stays in Halifax… words are not enough.
Cremation has taken place and visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 8, 2-9 p.m. at the St. Columba Parish Centre with the funeral following on Friday, Dec. 9, 11 a.m. at St. Columba Church, Fr. Paul Abbass officiating.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Q.E. II Foundation - Medical Day Unit.
